Benevolent Member
The Schklover Benevolent Society entered its membership in a book with printed forms where each new member entered his biographical information which is listed in the body of this work. It gives a broad view of the membership and opens up to us the world of our grandparents and great grandparents.
Please note that all entries are in cursive. Therefore, we do not stand behind the spelling of names. The description of business, job, profession are in the words of the applicant for membership. Where "0" has been entered for the number of children might be the result of the applicant failing to enter the data. It will be noted that at least fifty percent of the membership would be over one hundred years of age. We must praise the YIVO archivists for the repair and presentation of these documents. I ask them to continue to be patient with your humble researcher, especially when he asks that annoying question "Can you read this part ?"
Finally, you may not notice but the ghosts of the names we present are looking over our shoulders and asking us to keep their memories alive.
