Canon T2i

Canon T2i

The Canon Rebel T2i accepts all Canon EF and EF-S mount lenses, which are electronic autofocusing lenses. Canon EF-S lenses were introduced with compact digital SLRs (or DSLRs) like the Canon Rebel series. EF-S lenses are smaller and lighter than their EF counterparts because they take advantage of the smaller image sensor inside Canon DSLRs like the Rebel T2i. Canon EF lenses have been around for decades and were originally used with film cameras. EF lenses are compatible with smaller Canon DSLRs like the Rebel T2i, as well as “full frame” DSLRs with 35mm format sensors, like the Canon 5D Mark II. As a result, Rebel T2i owners get the best of both worlds by being able to use all EF lenses in Canon’s line up, as well as newer EF-S lenses, which are specifically tailored to the Rebel T2i’s image sensor. Below, you will find a list of current Canon EF and EF-S lenses compatible with the Canon Rebel T2i. A brief overview of lens acronyms and designations: f/ number – This number is used to designate the lens aperture, which affects the amount of light that can come in through the lens and the ability to blur the background for flattering portraits. The lower the number, the brighter the lens. Lower is generally better. Zoom lenses can have a range for the f-stop, which changes depending on the focal length.
